The Friends of the Betsie Valley Trail are very fortunate to have Crystal Mountain as a business sponsor. They help support the trail in many ways and we are most grateful for their partnership. Please patronize this wonderful Benzie County resort and thank them for supporting the trail!

Crystal Mountain is a four season, family-owned resort focused on delivering exceptional experiences for every visitor in every season. Since opening as a ski hill with one chairlift in 1956, Crystal Mountain has come a long way. Today, the ski hill at Crystal is 103 acres with 59 downhill runs, six chairlifts and two carpet tows in the Mountain Adventure Zone learning area.

One of the things Crystal is known for when it comes to skiing and snowboarding, is teaching. There are more than 100 snow sports instructors who teach all ages – from the Little Bears Ski program for ages 3-4, to the Retired Not Tired club for ages 55+ – you’re never too young or too old to learn how to slide on snow safely. Group lessons and private lessons are also popular.

For those who are more interested in the off-hill activities, there are plenty. Snowshoeing, cross country skiing, fat tire biking, ice skating, outdoor laser tag, archery and hiking (insider tip: hike or snowshoe the Michigan Legacy Art Park – it’s a 2-mile loop trail through nature, and also a learning experience as you look on and read about more than 50 pieces of art that represent Michigan’s culture and history.)

All of these activities are sure to work up an appetite, and possibly the need for a nap, and Crystal Mountain has you covered. Check out the Mountain Market for grab’n go options, The Thistle for casual fine-dining, Betsie River Pizza and Subs, the Clipper Café’ for hot eats and treats, grab a drink while overlooking the slopes in the Vista, or do your own thing by stopping by the Mountain Market for fresh produce, local goods, drinks and more. Whether you’re here with one person or ten, there’s a place for your group to hunker down and make memories. Lodging options range from hotel rooms and suites to resort townhomes and condos (ask about pet friendly and ski in/ski out options!)

Last but not least, a visit to Crystal Spa will make any visit complete. The 18,500-square foot LEED-certified spa is at the heart of Crystal Mountain and is sure to leave you feeling relaxed yet revived and ready to take on the next adventure.
