2010 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
The following is a listing of currently scheduled events involving the Betsie Valley Trail in one way or another. If you are aware of another event that you believe should be included, contact the Web Editor.
Saturday, May 22, 8:00 a.m. Beginning Birding
This Benzie Audubon trip will begin at the Adams Road parking lot on River Road. Doug Cook (352-8159) will lead this trip to help birders develop their identification skills. As with all Benzie Audubon functions, you need not be a member to attend.
Tuesday, May 25, 6:30 p.m. FBVT Board Meeting
Monthly Board meeting at Century 21 Sleeping Bear Realty in Beulah.
Tuesday, June 22, 6:30 p.m. FBVT Board Meeting
Monthly Board meeting at Century 21 Sleeping Bear Realty in Beulah.
Thursday, July 1, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Business After Hours
This Frankfort-Elberta Chamber of Commerce event will be held at the Cabbage Shed Restaurant in Elberta and is co-sponsored by the Cabbage Shed and the Friends of the Betsie Valley Trail. There will be food, prizes, fun and networking. Bring your friends -
this event is open to the public!
Saturday, July 10, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Beulah Art Fair
Another popular annual event where FBVT has traditionally staffed a booth.
Saturday, July 17, 8:00 a.m. Port City Run on the Trail
This annual event features 1-mile and 5-k events and starts at Goose Park in Frankfort.
Tuesday, July 27, 6:30 p.m. FBVT Annual Membership and Board Meetings
All FBVT members are welcome to attend our annual meeting at Century 21 Sleeping Bear Realty in Beulah.
Wednesday, July 28, CSA Art Fair
FBVT again will have a booth at this, the 32nd annual CSA art fair. This event raises funds supporting local charities, as well as CSA summer activities. Held each year--rain or shine--on the fourth Wednesday of July at the Congregational Summer Assembly, two miles north of Frankfort on M-22.
Friday & Saturday, August 20 & 21, Frankfort Art Fair
Another annual event where FBVT will staff a booth. Stop by and see us!
Sunday, August 22, Bike Benzie Tour, from 7 a.m. on
Another annual event, this one sponsored by the Benzie Sunrise Rotary, beginning and ending at the Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa in Thompsonville. The Beulah Trailhead is a major refreshment stop on the Tour. For registration information see Bike Benzie.
Tuesday, August 24, 7:00 p.m. FBVT Board Meeting
Monthly Board meeting at Century 21 Sleeping Bear Realty in Beulah.
Wednesday, September 15, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friendraiser in Elberta
This is a special event to celebrate the success of the Trail and honor the Friends who have supported the Trail over the years. It will take place at the Lifesaving Station in Elberta. While this wine and hors d’oeuvres
party is for the Friends of the Trail, anyone who would like to attend for the
$35 per person cost can obtain an invitation by contacting John Ester at
325-2445.
Saturday, September 18, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., Birding by Bike on the BVT
On this Benzie Audubon event Bryce and Paula Dreeszen (275-7199) will lead a leisurely paced ride for 10-15 miles along the Trail. Along the way we will look for bluebirds, possibly inspecting and cleaning out bluebird birdhouses along the Trail. Everyone is welcome!
Sunday, October 3, Betsie Valley Run
This annual event begins and ends at the Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa in Thompsonville and features everything from a 5k walk to a half marathon. Check the Run website for further details.
